Hello / Bonjour
LFS is no longer accepting new enrollment for this current school year.
We are finalizing our enrollment materials for this coming academic year 2021-2022. Please stay tuned! More information coming soon!
The safety and wellbeing of our families, students and staff are our top priority. Our school will strictly comply with the guidelines of the Early Leaning Division and the Oregon Health Authority released on August 14, 2020.
The Little French School is passionate about empowering students socially, emotionally and academically through the medium of French culture, diversity, and language in an accessible and fun learning environment. Our vision is to support the well-being and self-confidence of each student while instilling in them acceptance, respect and creativity. We never forget the importance of play. It teaches socialization, and empathy. All these combined promote learning.
The Little French School ‘s philosophy is to prepare students to embrace life by modeling kindness, cultural awareness and respect of others. Creativity and individuality are highly encouraged in a safe and loving setting.
We believe that inclusion is a right, not a privilege. LFS is an open, and accepting safe space for all children, families, and staff to learn, explore, play, connect, and work. We do not discriminate in enrollment or employment decisions on the basis of race, religion, ethnic or national origin, familial status, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, sexual orientation, ability or any other protected status under federal, state or local law. We welcome in our school all shapes, sizes, colors, sexes, languages, cultures, beliefs, ages and statuses.

We accept toilet-trained children between the age of 3 and 6 in our three French-immersion classes. We also offer a French-supported extended care program, available for our students and for elementary-aged students.
Give your child the gift of language!
Our immersion program seeks to sharpen each child’s intellectual abilities by using a second language as a medium of instruction, helping the children to develop their full potential. Each child’s individuality and creativity is honored and encouraged, which helps our young learners develop self-esteem.
We maintain an environment in which positive reinforcement is provided and children are able to make choices. Respect for one another is at the core of our philosophy, and conflicts are resolved with redirection, communication, and mutual respect.
LFS is dedicated to small class sizes and personalized attention, basing the level of instruction on each child’s interest and abilities. We are also passionate about forging connections between family, community, and environment, and supporting cultural awareness in our students. Children are encouraged to explore their own creativity and individuality through activities and projects in the areas of art, music, storytelling, discovery science, and physical and environmental education. The French language is learned gradually as children hear it spoken throughout the day.
The Little French School operates Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:30pm. We offer Petite Section, Moyenne Section, and Moyenne/Grande Section for toilet-trained children between the ages of 3 and 6. We also offer Extended Care that is open to our students as well as elementary students seeking a French-supported after-school program (this service will not be offered this year) . A variety of scheduling options are available for all ages. We provide a 10-month pre-academic program (early September through mid-June, we try to follow 4j calendar as much as we can), as well as an extracurricular summer program in July and August.
This class introduces discovery and exploration through art, songs, movement, stories, & manipulatives. Fostering the development of budding social skills & interactions, we help your child’s personality bloom. An emphasis is put on learning to share, building friendships, & autonomy within a nurturing & safe group environment.
Petite Section operates from 8:30am-12:30pm daily 5 days/week, with the option to stay for extended care.
This class provides a French intensive experience that promotes discovery-learning in a fun, warm, & dynamic environment while attending to each child’s individual needs. The curriculum includes broad academics, science, music, geography, arts & crafts, baking, & role-playing. Our imaginary travels around the world provide insight to international cultures & introduce the children to different world views.
Moyenne Section operates from 8:30am-2:30pm 5 days/ week, with the option to stay for extended care.
This class provides an individualized & advanced curriculum that plays on the strengths of each child. Children learn reading, spelling, math, & art using Montessori hands-on materials. Our Kindness Curriculum develops real world life & problem-solving skills. Monthly trips to the library help create a literary foundation & promote a love of reading, alongside in-class book studies of different authors.
Moyenne/Grande Section operates from 8:30am-2:30pm 5 days/ week, with the option to stay for extended care.
We also offer a limited number of 4 days/week (Monday – Thursday) placements for all three levels, designed to accommodate your needs.
The extended care program promotes learning and socialization through indoor/outdoor play, stories, games, and child-directed activities, and is open to LFS students as well as elementary students. We provide homework help in French and English, and a fun, small-group alternative for after-school care!
We also have an extra-curricular weekly summer program, taking place in July and August each year. This program is typically run off-site (most recently at Lane Child and Family Center) so we can offer more outdoor exploration and summer fun in the sun. Information and sign-ups are typically available online in March or April!
